I believe God brings people into our lives that become our family. I have been blessed with my blood relationships and dear friends. Together, these make up my “chosen family”. These are those people in my life that have been there….through the best of times and the worst of times. In fact, it has been in the worst of times that I really understood this about them.

In November 2007 my family started one of the most devastating journeys of our lives. Our wonderful mother was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer—Glioblastoma mulitforme. One day she was prepping for Thanksgiving dinner and the next she was in the ICU waiting for a biopsy. We walked around in a blur and shock as to how we had gotten to this point.
